To mark International Transgender Day of Visibility, the capital’s communities will break through discriminatory barriers by holding a job fair for LGBT job seekers.
The transgender rights group TEAK Trans Empowerment teams up with Museum Siam on Mar 31 (11 am-9:30 pm) to host a job fair alongside a day of art, music, talks and cultural performances.
Coinciding with International Transgender Day of Visibility (which falls every year on Mar 31), the festival promises exhibitions that examine Bangkok’s understanding of gender minorities, with talk sessions from LGBT activists, columnists and artists like Prempreeda Pramoj Na Ayutthaya, Q Kanasit (the founder of online LGBT studies Non-Binary) and Tina Wattina (the editor of PRISM magazine).
Alongside the talks, the event will also feature a job fair for the country’s leading companies that support the LGBT community, like Watashi engineering Co., Ltd., Hardcover Books Shop, Krunthai-AXA PCL, APCOM and Asia City Media Group Co., Ltd. (BK Magazine’s parent company).
Live performances come from SISTERS Cabaret act and contemporary dancer Ajarn Jamie, in addition to a film screening of Laura Foreman’s Days Like These.
Entry is free, while food and drink will also be available throughout the day.
The event kicks off with a pre-event party on Mar 30 and a free screening of the LGBT documentary Coby at Alliance Francaise Bangkok, 179 Witthayu Rd. (7 pm onwards).
