‘THE CASE AGAINST 8’ the powerful documentary from filmmakers Ben Cotner and Ryan White about the highly emotional struggle to get same-sex marriage legalised in California once and for, all has been shortlisted for a Nomination for the Academy Award for Best Documentary, a rare achievement for a gay movie. The film is currently in UK cinemas.

Also on the shortlist are two other stunning new films that have gay content: ‘FINDING VIVIAN MAIER’ a documentary on the late Vivian Maier, a nanny whose previously unknown cache of 100,000 photographs earned her a posthumous reputation as one OF the most accomplished street photographers. Plus ‘THE OVERNIGHTERS’ the documentary about a local Pastor who risks everything to help desperate men chase their dreams and run from their demons in the North Dakota oil fields, and then completely unexpectedly comes out as gay to his wife on camera.

As we reported in THE GAY UK already there are already 4 gay movies being shortlisted for BEST FOREIGN PICTURE Academy Award so wouldn’t it be fab if these was the year that gay movies score TWO OSCARS!
