PFund is seeking a creative, driven, experienced fundraiser to become our Development Manager. This full-time permanent position is based in Minneapolis, Minn., reports to the Executive Director, and will be responsible for managing a team of volunteers as well as provide fundraising support to PFund’s Board.
PFund works with overlapping and intersectional audiences including foundation communities, LGBT communities and a diverse donor base. Racial justice, transgender justice and economic justice inform our framework. We value every gift and every level and recognize that as a social justice focused LGBT community foundation we have a unique and important role to play.
Development Manager PFund Foundation
Our fundraising strategy focuses on two major funding streams: foundations and individual donors. Additionally, our budget each year is augmented by fundraising activities and campaigns including special events and corporate outreach.
The Development Manager will work in regular collaboration with the Executive Director and our communications and program staff. The Development Manager will be responsible for leading some tasks and provide a supporting role on others. We welcome energetic and constructive collaborators.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Donor cultivation – build and deepen donors’ relationship and commitment to our mission and work
- Identify new potential funding partners (for general operating and program specific dollars)
- Together with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, meet annual fundraising goals (approximately $750,000 annually)
- Draft the revenue projections for each fiscal year
- Make and adjust our accompanying work plan to achieve monthly and quarterly goals
- Drive corporate strategy – do outreach and work to secure corporate commitments
- Recruit and manage interns and volunteers to help with donor appreciation, event planning, etc.
Coordinate
- Conduct and share analysis to ensure we are meeting goals, and updating our strategy as necessary
- Ensure that our donor database is accurate, useful and being used to its maximum potential
- Pull together the cross-departmental pieces necessary to apply for grants from relevant foundations
Support
- Facilitate relationship-building between staff, board and key stakeholders
- Strategic communications – work with other staff on development focused communications
- Special events – work with board and volunteers on strategy, execution and logistics
- Direct mail – work with staff to develop and mail several pieces per year
Special Projects
- Five state strategy – build and execute a fundraising plan that expands our donor pool
- Planned giving relationships and strategy – finding new and dynamic ways to strengthen this program
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of raising money from a variety of stakeholders
- Experience building authentic relationships with donors across a broad spectrum
- Excellent oral and written communication skills – a great organizational ambassador
- Ability to create and manage a comprehensive fundraising strategy; experience budgeting
- Creative, flexible and solution-oriented
- Great time management skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities at one time
- Experience managing teams of volunteers and/or contract folks is a plus
- LGBT culturally competent – experience and comfort talking openly about LGBT people and issues

- Likes Flexible Schedule – fundraising often requires evening and weekend meetings and events
- Self-motivated – has a deep desire to fund the LGBT movement in the Upper Midwest
- Strong sense of power dynamics around philanthropy including class, race, gender, age, position, etc.
- Detail-oriented, able to track and analyze data closely, finding mistakes and noticing trends
Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package, including PTO.
