Today sees the launch of the third film in the Warwick Rowers Calendar franchise. Called The Warwick Rowers: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, the film runs for around 55 minutes and is delivered as a digital download in 1080HD and 720HD versions. It can be purchased exclusively from the boys’ website, warwickrowers.org, for £11.99 sterling. The film is joined by a new range of six greeting cards using images taken from the boys’ 2014 calendar.

The Warwick Rowers: Bigger, Longer & Uncut offers a look behind the scenes of the rowers’ annual calendar photoshoot, with lots of footage of the handsome naked athletes wresting, jumping into rivers, having a tug of war and creating all the magical moments that have made their calendar such a runaway hit. All against a backdrop of fantastic original music, donated by talented composers, songwriters and performers from the UK and beyond.

When they’re not being photographed the rowers, still naked, give frank interviews that offer the greatest insight yet into who these young men are. They talk about their experiences of rowing, about the inherent camaraderie that’s so essential to the sport, how they feel about the attention they get from both men and women, and what it’s like to spend several days with no clothes on.

More seriously, the rowers talk about Sport Allies, the new outreach programme that they are launching with help from UK registered charity EACH (Educational Action Challenging Homophobia (and funding from sales of the film). Sport Allies aims to support young people to define and express themselves, particularly in relation to their sexuality, without fear of prejudice. Working on the calendar project has brought the need for this programme home to Laurie, one of this year’s biggest stars:

“Working on the calendar and the development of Sport Alllies has given me a chance to meet people from the LGBT community that I might not otherwise have met. To hear their experiences of being bullied, of struggling to come to terms with their sexuality, and I hope that this is something our calendars and our films can help to change. Not just by funding our outreach work, but by making a statement. We don’t mind who enjoys the calendars and films. We had fun creating them and we want everyone to have fun looking at them. It’s all good!”

The affirmative tone and message of the Warwick Rowers products have found favour among both male and female fans around the world. Tweets, blogs and emails are already flooding in about the new film: “All I can say is WOW!!!! You should be so proud”; “This years’ video is OUTSTANDING!! I love it”; “What a great film! You’ve captured camaraderie and youthful exuberance, as well as hotness – and in a way that isn’t creepy!”; “This is beautiful! I’m buying two copies: one for my daughter, and one for my gay son.” ; “Good grief. The first minute alone! I need to lie down.”

While this is the third film that the Warwick Rowers have produced, greeting cards are something new. As Matt, another calendar star, commented:

“Why say it with flowers, when you can have us say it for you? And we’ll do it naked!”

The cards come in packs of six, with each card depicting a separate scene from the 2014 calendar. As with the calendar and the film, the rowers have placed their usual emphasis on quality. The cards are produced and hand-finished entirely in the UK on heavy stock from sustainable sources, which has been chosen to enable the best possible reproduction of the stunning black and white images. While the cards are blank inside, there is a message on the back about the support that sales will give to Sport Allies, and the envelopes are purple – the colour of Sport Allies, and of challenging homophobia.

The cards are currenly available from warwickrowers.org at £5.99 for a pack of six, plus postage and packing. They can be sent anywhere in the world.
