Germany’s new Environment minister Barbara Hendricks came out in the first of 2014’s high profile Coming Outs.

The Environment minister came out via a newspaper interview where she said that she would be spending New Year’s Eve with her life partner.

Up until the revelation Hendrick’s sexuality had been an ‘open secret’ reports website queer.de. Hendricks has long been a supporter of LGBT rights but up until now has never spoken publicly about her sexuality.
