A fun campaign against the recent claims by the Henley-on-Thames UKIP Councillor David Silvester that the recent floods were a result of gay marriage is gaining momentum and looks set to succeed in getting The Weather Girls’ 1982 hit It’s Raining Men to the number one spot next week.

Mr Silvester claims that the prime minister acted “arrogantly against the Gospel” and warned David Cameron this would result in disaster.
Writing in his local newspaper, the Henley Standard, Mr Silvester said: “The scriptures make it abundantly clear that a Christian nation that abandons its faith and acts contrary to the Gospel (and in naked breach of a coronation oath) will be beset by natural disasters such as storms, disease, pestilence and war… It is [the prime minister’s] fault that large swathes of the nation have been afflicted by storms and floods.”

GETTING TO NUMBER 1
The campaign believes that the show of strength to get a song to Number 1 will create a spotlight on equality as a whole. Darren Pop, who is heading this campaign, said: “For decades now, this song has been used as a gay anthem, we thought it fitted all the better based on UKIP’s comments regarding storms and floods being caused by LGBT people and Gay marriage.”
