The brand new Channel 4 programme which is called: “Cure Me, I’m Gay” will feature the openly gay Doctor talking to and looking at ‘experts’ who claim they can cure someone of their homosexuality.
There are many reasons why someone might want to ‘cure’ their sexuality, including social factors, family pressures and discrimination, however there is no proof that ‘gay cure’ works.
In an interview with TheGayUK, when asked if he faced homophobia being an openly gay doctor the Supersize Vs Superskinny doctor said:
‘I certainly did when I was younger and training I remember being in hospitals with some consultants and hearing some really very homophobic comments about patients and just being really shocked and thinking: ‘actually we are the profession that should absolutely not be making these sort of judgements.’ This was really depressing and I swore from that moment that I was going to try and change that and be more of a friendly public face of health if not anything else.’
Last year bothSetting Captives Free was available for download in their App stores. Apple removed the app within 24 hours, however the app is still available for download in the Android store.
