BASIC FUNCTION : NCAA Director of Inclusion is responsible for overseeing the education of the membership, national office, public, and media on gender issues and Title IX. The director is responsible for advocacy for best practices and policy decisions that strengthens the Association’s commitment to seeking out diverse viewpoints. The director will collaborate with national affiliate organizations on strategies for improving the experience of women and the LGBTQ community in intercollegiate athletics, as well as involving university presidents and chancellors in efforts to improve the climate supporting diversity and inclusion. The director will collaborate with other members of the national office staff and the NCAA governance structure to promote inclusion. The director is the primary spokesperson on Title IX issues within the Association. The director will be responsible for the administration of the NCAA’s Gender Equity Resource Center. The director will provide content advice for NCAA educational programming, as well as assisting the executive vice president with duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Oversee the education of the membership, national office, media and public on women’s issues, gender equity, and Title IX through program administration of national seminars and conferences, speaking engagements/outreach and a comprehensive resource center.
1. Women’s Initiatives and Gender Equity. (80 percent)
- Oversee implementation of strategic planning issues related to internal and membership gender equity and women’s issues.
- Maintain a global knowledge of Title IX, gender equity and women’s initiatives
- Develop and administer the Gender-Equity and Title IX Resource Centers.
- Develop and conduct the national Inclusion Forum for the membership and public.
- Act as primary administrator of the NCAA Emerging Sports for Women program.
- Act as primary staff liaison to the Committee on Women’s Athletics.
- Act as primary staff liaison to the Woman of the Year Selection Committee and member of the Woman of the Year project team.
- Work closely with the NCAA Leadership group for professional development programming targeting student-athlete and professional understanding of diversity and equity.
- Act as liaison with the membership and public on gender equity and women’s issues.
- Coordinate the grant programs for the Alliance of Women Coaches and the NCAA Women Coaches Academy and NCAA/NACWAA Institutes.
- Disseminate written information on Title IX to media, membership, national office, and other interested individuals and provide names of individuals who are knowledgeable on Title IX to the membership, public and media.
- Respond to telephone inquiries and e-mail inquiries from media, public and membership on gender equity, women’s issues and Title IX.
- Act as liaison to the Association’s Senior Woman Administrators.
- Make public appearances and speeches on behalf of the Association.
2 . Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) Issues in Intercollegiate Sport. (15 percent)
- Act as a resource for the membership and public on LGBTQ issues
- Collaborate with inclusion staff on implementing strategic planning issues related to internal and membership LGBTQ issues.
- Participate in the LGBT Sports Coalition for the NCAA.
- Maintain a global knowledge of LGBTQ issues in higher education.
- Make public appearances and speeches on behalf of the Association.
- Respond to telephone inquiries and e-mail inquiries from media, public and membership on LGBTQ issues related to sports participation.
3. Special Projects (Five percent)
- Serve on affiliate boards and committees as related to primary responsibilities.
- Serve as assigned to NCAA projects. For example, the Sexual Violence Prevention team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree or Juris doctor preferred.
- Leadership and management ability and a working knowledge of and experience with the administration of collegiate athletes. Minimum of five years of formal leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of working with current inclusion issues facing women as professionals and student-athletes strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Experience as a participant within the NCAA governance structure.
