Warsaw Pride – The next Equality Parade is set to march the streets of Warsaw on 13th of June 2015! We will have many surprises and attractions in store for you.  As usual, the Parade will highlight the demands of national, ethnic, religious and sexual minorities  as well as disabled people. Warsaw, Poland.

EQUALITY PARADE FESTIVAL 2015

The slogan and the route of 2015 Equality Parade are still unknown. What we do know is that the organisers are planning to end the Parade with a bang, as it was in 2014 when we concluded our march with the Equality Beach Party. There are already as many as twenty different organisations involved in the Organising Committee, among them NGOs, political parties, companies, institutions, informal groups and individuals. The entirety of works is managed by Volunteering for Equality Foundation.

‘Many people don’t realise how great an undertaking Equality Parade is,’ says Jej Perfekcyjność, the event’s spokesperson, ‘which is why we always start the preparations around September or October the previous year. Even setting the date of the event is a challenge with so many parties involved.’

The twelve demands of Equality Parade concern better protection from social exclusion, discrimination and hate speech, fight for the rights of transgender persons, marriage equality, opening up the public spaces for people with disabilities, anti-discrimination and sexual education in schools and better treatment of foreigners in Poland.

On our website www. paradarownosci.eu we have already started the clock counting down to the 13th of June 2015. The march will be preceded, as usual, by the Equality Parade Festival – a series of pro-equality events such as workshops, debates, film screenings, concerts, exhibitions, meetings and conferences.

Around 13.5 thousand people participated in the last Equality Parade marching under the banner of equal rights for all. The concluding Equality Beach Party took place in the club La Playa – among the stars, who performed on the stage that night were Izabela Trojanowska, Asteya, drag queen Żaklina and drag queen Virgin. 27 embassies in Poland supported the Parade in an open letter and ambassadors of Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Canada took part in the march. Also the government’s Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment  handed over a letter of support. On top of that, the event was advocated by the Honorary Committee which included among others Robert Biedroń, Anna Grodzka, Wojciech Olejniczak, Leszek Miller, prof. Bożena Chołuj, prof. Magdalena Środa, Kazimiera Szczuka, Joanna Senyszyn, Janusz Palikot, prof. Jan Hartman, Piotr Guział, Sebastian Wierzbicki, Wanda Nowicka, Ramona Rey and Agnieszka Szulim. Mayor of Warsaw Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz once again refused to patronise the event.

The Organising Committee consists of Amnesty International Polska, LGBTQ Persons and Friends Choir Voces Gaudiae, Izabela Jaruga-Nowacka Foundation, Kocia Mama Foundation, LGBT Business Forum Foundation, Trans-Fuzja Foundation, Volunteering for Equality Foundation, Initiative Group for Civil Partnerships, MiTo art.cafe.books, Democratic Left Alliance Party, The Greens (Poland), Stowarzyszenie Fabryka Równości, Lambda Warszawa Association, Miłość Nie Wyklucza Association, Równość na Fali Association and Free Reformed Church of Poland.
