How expensive is the event and is there a way to come that is affordable?

While Aspen can be expensive, the event itself can be affordable with our Black Diamond event pass, which gets you into all events with some exceptions. You may also volunteer for an event pass by emailing volunteer@gayskiweek.com.

Lodging is also a concern and we have many options between Aspen & Snowmass at all price levels. Aspen is a very small town, so any lodging that you pick will be within walking distance of all events except for the Pool Party, everyone has to take transportation to that. Contact one of our lodging experts at Stay Snowmass to find everything from hostel to luxury accommodations Click Here to Book Lodging

How do I get to Aspen?

There are 4 airports within 4 hours of Aspen, Colorado: Aspen/Pitkin Airport  – ASE (10min away), Eagle County Airport – EGE (1.5 hrs away), Grand Junction Airport – GJT (2.5 hrs away) & Denver Airport – DEN (4 hrs away)

All of the airports have their own set of difficulties, if it’s clear weather, Aspen is great however expensive. You can fly into all of these airports and get ground transportation or rent a car one way and drive into Aspen. Be warned, winter conditions will exist…experienced winter drivers only.

Will I need a car once I arrive in Aspen?

No, you can walk almost everywhere and we also have a free bus system between the 4 ski mountains in the area. you can view more information on our bus service at http://rfta.com  We also have cabs and car service available. Most hotels will also have free airport transportation if you choose to fly into Aspen as well as will drive you around town to dinner etc.

What should I pack? ( this we find, is the most important faq!)

Aspen has over 300 days of sunshine a year, so it won’t always be cold. Expect a mix of sun and snow during your trip. It may be cool outside, so bring a warm coat or jacket…but it will likely be warm inside, so you won’t need that heavy alpine sweater your dying to bring. Not saying that you can’t bring it, but if you wear it to dinner or dancing, you will be sweating.

You can wear jeans almost anywhere in Aspen, dress is mostly casual. You can also dress to the nines if you like. We have plenty of fancy stores to shop for that trendy coat or top if you forget anything.

What we don’t have however, is a good place to buy underwear or socks!

Bring a swimsuit for apres ski and for the pool party.

Bring warm boots for walking around town with a lug sole so you don’t slip, leave your loafers and heels at home if you like them. We have snow on the streets at all times.

Do I have to stay at the host hotel, the Limelight in order to attend apres ski?

No, apres ski is free and open to all. They have towels and changing rooms if you choose to use the pool and hot tubs. All hotels in Aspen are within walking distance of the Limelight.

Do you have to be an expert skier or boarder to come to Aspen?

No, we have 4 mountains here all on one lift ticket, with tickets as low as $68 per day with a 4 day pass.

Aspen Mountain – blues, blacks and double blacks (not a beginner mountain)

Aspen Highlands – greens, blues, blacks and double blacks (mostly intermediate and expert terrain)

Buttermilk Mountain – greens, blues, blacks ( a great beginner mountain, but also a lot of great cruising terrain. Also the site of the Xgames, so an amazing terrain park for all of you rippers)

Snowmass Mountain – Something for everyone, by far our biggest mountain and a ton of fun for all!

All four mountains have ski school, rentals, food & beverage and free transfer on the bus
