The LGBT Studies Program at HWS invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level beginning July 1, 2015. Candidates must have a Ph.D., by the start date, with an expertise in LGBT studies and queer studies, and approach scholarship and teaching from an interdisciplinary perspective. Area of specialization is open; evidence of effective teaching in the field is strongly preferred.
Assistant Associate Professor Tenure-Track LGBT Studies
The successful candidate will demonstrate a promising research agenda, excellence in teaching, and a commitment to undergraduate research and mentorship. The new hire will develop and teach core courses in LGBT Studies, including Introduction to LGBT Studies, Queer Theory, and courses in the Colleges’ general curriculum. The LGBT Studies Program at HWS is the first undergraduate LGBT Studies program in the nation and offers two majors and two minors. Teaching responsibilities include five courses per year. The successful candidate will be expected to foster the continued development of the program and its curriculum, build alliances across campus, and work closely with students, faculty, and staff.
