Belfast Gay Pride 2014
Belfast Pride Festival aims to represent and promote the visibility of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer community in Belfast and continues to build on its successes over the years, delivering a dynamic and diverse programme of events for all.
The festival offers a ten day long programme of events, culminating on Pride Day with the annual Pride Parade through Belfast City Centre, Party in the Square and Pride Village.
In 2013, we had our biggest parade to date and, in general for all events, smashed all previous records!
Pride is celebrated around the world near the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City in June 1969, which were the start of the modern fight for equality of rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) people. The first Pride parade in Belfast was organised in June 1991, and thus 2013 was our 23rd year of parading in Belfast.
Over the last few years, the festival has been successful in promoting and highlighting Belfast’s large and growing LGBT community.
