(GayWebSource.com) Las Vegas, NV (9/16/12) For the upcoming one year anniversary of the official repeal of the United States military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, romance publisher, Chances Press, announces a new line of titles, In and Out of Uniform, that celebrate the love lives of our nation’s proud openly gay and lesbian service members.
One year since the official repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the United States has seen the promotion of the first openly gay general and the first time that active duty gay and lesbian military members were allowed to publically participate in a gay pride parade, such as the one in San Diego. This led to publisher Chances Press determining that this was now the perfect time to launch a new line of romances that recognizes gay and lesbian military heroes and heroines.
“Romance novels with military heroes are commonplace within the genre with a level popularity that surged during the Iraq war,” said Chances Press spokesperson David Pearson. “But now, finally romance authors can explore the lives and loves of gay and lesbian service members who are serving openly.”
The new publishing line, In and Out of Uniform, is set to be launched in July 2013 just in time to celebrate Independence Day. The first confirmed title, Men Can Do Romance, by award-winning novelist Michael Holloway Perronne (www.michaelhperronne.com ), delves into the love story between an all business actuary who has given up on courtship only to find himself falling for a childhood friend who’s now a on leave Marines.
“For far too long our nation forced some brave men and women who dedicated themselves to protecting our lives to publically deny their own even subjecting servicemembers to witchhunts,” Pearson continued. “I’m sure it will take time for the day to arrive where everyone in the USA thinks nothing of a gay and lesbian member of the military, but hopefully, these titles will help change some hearts and minds about what it means to be a military family. And because we’re all inclusive here at Chances Press, we’re also looking for great military romances with straight leads as well.”
