Under the direction of the Call Center Supervisor, and as a member of a medical team, the Clinical Assistant will be working in a call center environment providing telephonic and clerical support for the Medical Department as well as general support for other clinical activities on an as-needed basis.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to: providing telephone support for general patient inquiries; and providing clerical support and administrative assistance as directed (e.g. handling mail, faxing, scheduling patient appointments and assisting with pre-authorization and other paperwork needs).
Additional duties, on an as-needed basis, could include providing direct patient care using medical assisting procedures as appropriate for a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic if the applicant has a medical assistant, CNA, or EMT background. Such care may include: preparing patient summary sheets; documenting vital signs; assisting with various medical tests and procedures; maintaining medical supplies, forms and equipment; stocking and cleaning exam rooms; conducting medication inventory; and autoclaving medical equipment.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- College degree is a plus
- Successful completion of Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Program or 3-5 years as a Medical Secretary in lieu of formal training will be considered
- Certification when eligible
- 1 year experience working as a Medical Assistant or similar position, required
- Experience working with both pediatric and adult populations is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Current CPR Certification preferred
- Excellent computer skills and experience using Electronic Medical Records required
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Evidence of strong customer service and problem solving skills
- Experience working in a call center strongly preferred
- Demonstrated interest in LGBT health and commitment to community health strongly preferred
- Bilingual a plus, but not required
- Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required
- Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment preferred.
