Rescue Social Change Group (Rescue SCG) is searching for a professional and experienced Community Manager to establish, maintain and expand the social media presence of Rescue SCG’s newest LGBT brand. These are long-term campaigns and social marketing programs that primarily focus on tobacco prevention. This brand is specifically targeted to LGBT young adults (ages 18 – 24) because tobacco use is higher within LGBT communities. The LGBT Campaign Community Manager role supports these efforts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube by implementing effective and cutting-edge strategies to build the audience, increase sustained engagement and drive traffic to campaign media.
Community Manager LGBT Campaign
The Community Manager reports to the Social Media Group Manager, is responsible for managing the conversation and presence of client(s) on social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, and emerging channels. The job of the Community Manager entails activities pertaining to, but not limited to:
Community Management:
- Ensure regular dissemination of campaign messages through social media channels (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc.);
- Ensure all outbound content is formatted and tagged correctly for reporting purposes;
- Draft appropriate responses to public commentary in a timely manner, especially in cases of negative sentiment and/or social media communication crises;
- Monitor conversations and generate insights/future strategy recommendations;
- Strictly adhere to brand Social Media Guidelines and Processes;
- Promote best practices and stay up to date on changes in the social media space.
Content Development:
- Develop innovative strategies to drive traffic to social media pages and engage teens in conversation;
- Develop creative concepts for online media such as sharable images, videos, post copy, etc.;
- Provide social media expertise to the Ideation Team during social media content ideation.
Metrics and Reporting:
- Compile client reports that capture moderation activity on social channels;
- Make appropriate adjustments based on social media analytics to reach social media performance goals;
- Compile comprehensive reports on social media performance using internal templates and professional social media reporting tools;
Contribute to the development of policies, guidelines and reporting to create efficiencies across community management process.
Other:
Represent Rescue SCG at conferences;
Other duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
Environment:
Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and computer and Internet access. Must be available to work non-traditional hours such as late nights and weekends. All business-related environments are tobacco-free.
Physical Requirements:
Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time and stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours at a time including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars.
Travel:
Once per quarter or less.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree +2 years relevant experience OR 7 years relevant experience OR Master’s Degree;
- Experience and success with social media for business purposes (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.);
- Experience using an enterprise-level Social Media Management System (Sprinklr, BuddyMedia, Shoutlet, Tracx, etc.);
- Experience and success with driving follower growth and engagement;
- Experience writing, building and optimizing social media content;
- Experience analyzing social media metrics;
- Strong verbal communication skills;
- Strong editing/writing skills for various social media content, client reports, marketing materials, etc.;
- Proven ability to generate original and creative content for social media.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using social listening tools;
- Experience marketing to LGBT audiences;
- Experience with youth marketing;
- Experience with public health efforts;
- Enthusiasm for social media and ability to move fast when new forms of social communication arise;
- Proven ability to quickly identify problems and solve them;
- Highly attentive to detail;
- Experience overseeing numerous projects at once;
- Proven ability to excel in high-stress, fast-paced environments;
- Non-tobacco-use is highly preferred because we only have tobacco-free environments and also to be consistent with our tobacco prevention campaign goals.
Training:
A comprehensive training would be provided to the selected candidate. The training will be conducted at a Rescue SCG office and paid for by RSCG.

FT Exempt Position. Salary Based on Salary History, Experience and Education Level.
