OUR CITY SHOWS ITS COLORS!
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons – LGBT short – have been fighting for more than four decades to acceptance and recognition. A special expression of this struggle is the annually recurring CSD demonstrations. The Lion City has a Christopher Street Day. Already for the 20th time the silly season festival takes place and has become over the years have become an institution.

UNSERE STADT ZEIGT FLAGGE!
Lesben, Schwule, Bisexuelle und Transidente – kurz LGBT – kämpfen seit über vier Jahrzehnten um Akzeptanz und Anerkennung. Einen besonderen Ausdruck findet dieser Kampf in den jährlich wiederkehrenden CSD-Demonstrationen. Auch die Löwenstadt hat einen Christopher Street Day. Bereits zum 20. Mal findet das Sommerlochfestival statt und ist im Laufe der Zeit schon zu einer Institution geworden.
Was 1996 mit einem eintägigen Straßenfest auf dem Platz hinter der Martinikirche begann, entwickelte sich schnell zu einem besonderen Politikevent mit kultureller Note. Dank des Engagements zahlreicher ehrenamtlicher Organisator.innen und Unterstützer.innen umfasst das Politikevent heute eine zweitägige Kundgebung, einen bunten Demonstrationszug durch die Innenstadt und ein mehrwöchiges Rahmenprogramm mit einem Reigen vielfältiger Veranstaltungen.
Getragen vom Verein für sexuelle Emanzipation e. V. (VSE) verfolgt das Sommerlochfestival | CSD Braunschweig das Ziel, die Integration schwuler, lesbischer, bisexueller und transidenter Menschen in der Region zu stärken und Diskriminierung abzubauen. Zwar sind vor allem auf rechtlicher Ebene in den vergangenen Jahren große Fortschritte erzielt worden, doch ist dies kein Anlass sich auf eventuellen Lorbeeren auszuruhen. So zeigen die Demonstrationen von Bragida oder den besorgten Eltern, dass Akzeptanz auch heute noch keine Selbstverständlichkeit geworden ist. Die teils erbitterten Proteste machen klar: Bestimmte Teile der Gesellschaft sehen Schwule, Lesben, Bisexuelle und Transgender nicht als gleichberechtigt an, sie würden sie maximal tolerieren, niemals jedoch akzeptieren.
Das Sommerlochfestival | CSD Braunschweig 2015 steht unter dem Motto „Unsere Stadt zeigt Flagge!“ und möchte dazu beitragen, dass les.bi.trans*.schwule Menschen in Braunschweig, aber auch weltweit ohne Angst vor Vorurteilen und Diskriminierung leben können.
