We belong to it. You too – CSD 2014 Family Festival at Stephansplatz
CSD Karlsruhe 2014
Under the slogan “We belong to it. You too. ” place on May 31, again in 2014 the Christopher Street Day in Karlsruhe, the great demo-parade of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people. In the weeks before and after that there will again be a social program.
The theme of this year’s CSD Karlsruhe has to be read from back to front. “We belong to it.” What for? For this purpose, including you belong. Wherever people join together, where people belong together, there are also lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people to do so. In the sports club as well as in the parish, at work, in the car and strolling in the imperial road. In the mosque, at the State Theatre, on the KIT campus, in the main school, the local council, in Fächerbad: We belong to it, as sure as you too are one of them.
Actually, of course. Why do we still put the 2014 in the center of a political campaign? For many people it is “us” always somewhere else. For many people, lesbians are no problem as long as your daughter has a boyfriend. Gays in the ballet are great, but a gay KSC player is out of imagination. And a gay teacher? Since you ask the school board for an interview. “I have nothing against those it is supposed to live any way he likes, but …” queer forms of life even as a subject in class? No, this is all rather stay far, far away, far away. Eh you look at it is providing even the long refuted, long overcome believed myth of the retrieved “seduction of homosexuality” back out of mothballs.
Still, we’re part of it. You too. We have, in the heart of society, not just at the edges. We are available as old, as a boy, as workers and intellectuals, as newcomers and natives. As Adjusted and as conspicuous. As colorful as life, so colorful so are we. Because we belong to it. How do you.
That’s why we were at heart to celebrate not only the demo parade and the political rally, but also the family gathering on the Stephansplatz, right in the center of Karlsruhe this year. As a natural part of our city.
Colorful and loud it will be on 31 May, when again Christopher Street Day in Karlsruhe. Under the slogan “We belong to it. You too. “Is the first time in 2014 in addition to demo Parade and political rally, a day-long family festival on the Stephansplatz place.
“We are still visible as part of the city,” says the association’s board and hopes for brisk business and many good discussions at the information stands. Even for a colorful stage and extra children’s entertainment and of course a wide range of food and drink will be provided.
The CSD Karlsruhe eV organizes annual Christopher Street Day in Karlsruhe. At these events, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people remember for a global gay uprising in June 1969 in New York and compete against oppression and homophobia in its many forms.
