PERFORMANCES
08:00 - 10:30pm
Feminist Women's Institute, Everyday Nakedness: Accounting, 2014
A durational performance that explores non-sexual female nudity through the everyday lives of freelance dancers and performance artists as they complete their tax returns.
00:15 - 00:30pm
Pablo Pakula, Masculine Expressions of my Creative Prowess (#work), 2014
The performance examines the relationship between masculinity, effort, labour, production, and commerce. By deploying objects intimately linked with notions of masculinity and effort, the performer aims to physically and visually explore the fetishization of a poetics of labour, thus problematising the nostalgia of the working classes’ ‘honest work’, as well as undermining heteronormative notions of man-as-worker.
VIDEOS
Phil America, White Ambition, 2013
Filmed in Bangkok, this project explores the relationship between the people of Thailand and their fixation with classism and beauty, and how it leads to their desire to have whiter skin through skin bleaching procedures.
Rona Geffen, Just Fuck Me, 2014
Editing, Cinematography by Fabio Dentella. Dancer Dwayne Strike. Assistant Director and Artistic consulting Stephanie Illouz. Produced by RG Unlimited.
The video presents an utopian world where lust and sex are acclaimed powers that liberate the individual and its community.
WORKS
Chiara Bertin, Shop Me, paper and plastic bags, 2014
Female body parts are cut-up and sealed in plastic envelopes, ready to be consumed.
Yole Quintero, Chavez Nuestro, 2014
After Hugo Chavez' died, he was immortalized as the 'martyr of the socialist revolution'. By bringing him to a level of adoration, the Venezuelan people have religiously depicted him on altars with candles or with busts made at his image.
Time Out (Critics’ Choice) says:
“Pizza. Silvio Berlusconi. Italy's contributions to history have been both awesome and... not-so awesome, and this fun-filled night invites you to celebrate both categories in brilliantly trashy style... So, head to Bethnal Green and find out what it's like to live la dolce vita!”
Deep Trash Italia is a fundraiser night in support of the queer-feminist organisations Archivio Queer Italia and CUNTemporary (London). The episode is curated by Giulia Casalini with the CUNTemporary Team. www.cuntemporary.org
