This position is responsible for the overall planning, organizing and execution of all IT functions at WWH. The Director of Information Technology (IT) will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operations of the IT department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance WWH mission-critical business operations and meet customer requirements. The Director of IT will work closely with health center staff to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective local and wide-area networks, integrated information systems, telephone system, electronic health record and other mechanisms for data reporting and analysis, and telecommunications throughout the organization

Primary Essential Duties

  • Maintain WWH’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information and communication technologies.
  • Manage the IT department’s operational planning, including business requirements, project planning, budget, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives based on evaluation of organizational outcomes, identification of problems and anticipating requirements.
  • Develop processes to monitor all systems in order to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Develop bid requirements for all hardware and software upgrades and review submitted bids for compliance with stated requirements.
  • Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Develop security standards, procedures and guideline for multiple platforms and ensure training
  • Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer and service agreements.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with WWH’s executives.
  • Provides excellent customer service assistance to internal parties for computer network repair and maintenance, following up with users to ensure that all issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. Identifies, analyzes and resolves issues related to the network as they arise.
  • Assists in the installation, configuration and update of software and hardware as necessary to support the efficient functioning of each health center department.
  • Ensures appropriate backup data on critical health center information, protecting health center servers and securing all information channels against unauthorized access.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a comprehensive asset inventory of all WWH property, ensuring that all purchases and distributions to staff are appropriately documented.

Secondary Essential Duties

  • Assists IT members with monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing the health center’s local and wide-area networks and telephone system for optimal performance, assisting with development and implementation of upgrades and improvements to the systems as necessary.
  • Provides excellent customer service assistance to internal parties for Help Desk needs, including hardware, software, electronic health record and phone related repair and maintenance, following up with users to ensure that all issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.

Budget Responsibilities

  • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing and adhering to an annual budget, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.

Management Responsibilities

  • Direct reports include:
    • Senior Network Administrator
    • Network/Help desk Administrator

Knowledge, Skills, and Talents Required

  • Broad knowledge of data processing systems, concepts, and methodologies
  • Experience in implementing effective and innovative hardware and software solutions
  • Experience with electronic health records, especially eClinicalWorks
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and appropriately prioritize
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail
  • Understanding of general business, health care, and health coverage issues
  • Ability to adapt to an ever changing environment

Education and Experience Required

  • Master’s Degree in information technology
  • Eight (8) years of progressive experience in health care information systems
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience

Working Conditions:

Working conditions for this position are normal for an office environment. Individual may be required to work evenings and / or weekends and be flexible to staff outreach events.

Physical Demands:

Lifting: No more than 25 lbs. and infrequently.

Movement: Standing and sitting for long periods.

Visual: Long periods on computer.

Communication: Direct and indirect communication. Written and verbal acuity.
