Lambda LegalNew York, NY

The Lambda Legal development team consists of the Regional Directors, Major Gift Officers, Events Director, support staff as well as board members and other high level volunteers. The Development team works as a group under the leadership of the Director of Development to plan and execute a wide variety of development relationships and activities. Major Gifts and Corporate and Law Firm sponsorships are the primary focus of the team, so building and maintaining relationships with individual donors and corporate funders is everyone’s responsibility.

The Events Coordinator (EC) provides leadership and administrative work vital to Lambda Legal’s national fundraising events. Because Lambda Legal’s fundraising efforts are structured around a teamwork model, the EC may also be assigned other duties outside of these areas on occasion. The EC reports to the National Events Director.

The EC will help lead volunteer event committees in metro markets as assigned in order to build attendance and increase individual, corporate and law firm contributions to these events. Based in New York, the EC will have some travel requirements. The EC will also work to increase awareness of Lambda Legal educational and legal programs through events as well as promote Lambda Legal’s major donor programs.

The EC will assist in developing, strategizing, implementing and coordinating fundraising events nationally as directed including those in the New York Metro area and other markets as determined. Specific duties will include working with event committees and staff to create goals and budgets, and developing and maintaining event timelines. The EC will also support local leadership committees in assigned markets by attending/participating in meetings, taking minutes, and updating rosters and donor listings.

The EC will supervise creation of event invitations (print and electronic), programs, social media, and other promotional material, and coordinate all aspects of solicitation including ensuring that sponsor letters, invitations and e-mail invitations are sent appropriately and in a timely manner.

The EC will also provide logistical support to Major Gift Officers who work with house party co-hosts and/or subcommittees, including creating and mailing invitations and email blasts. The EC also provides advice and consultation with identifying caterers and other vendors for events and assisting with their contracts.

The EC will ensure that events run smoothly and all materials to appropriately promote/run an event are in place (including the delivery of agreed-upon benefits to sponsors in coordination with the Major Gifts and Member Services teams), maintain appropriate administrative documentation on all events and respondents, and track income and expenses for events to ensure that goals are met.

The EC will work with staff and volunteers to coordinate sponsorships and major gifts, respond to donor and public inquiries, aid in processing event-related income and ensure proper attribution and documentation of gifts for a variety of events. The EC will also work to ensure that all events are appropriately listed on Lambda Legal’s website and that giving pages are created and maintained appropriately. S/he will also maintain and create the event email calendar, e-blasts and social media content in conjunction with the management of the event information form request process.

The EC will coordinate and execute major ticketed events across the country and build and maintain a portfolio of event volunteers and committee donors. The EC will also support regional staff and offer consultation and guidance as it relates to local events as they are planned.
