Fierté Montréal 2013
Montréal has a rich history of celebrating its LGBTA population and being at the forefront of the gay rights movement globally.
Gay Pride Montreal
Founded in 2007 as an initiative of Montréal’s LGBT community, Montréal Pride is a non-profit organization whose mission is to organize the largest LGBT gathering in Québec each year, to support and promote our local community and to serve as a beacon of hope for LGBT communities around the world who continue to battle oppression and injustice. Each year, Montréal Pride organizes a week of cultural and community activities, including the Pride Parade and Community Day, to celebrate the advancements made by the LGBT community while sensitizing the general public about the various issues to be addressed to eliminate homophobia, both here and in countries around the world. In 2012, some 327,000 people participated in the festivities, making Montréal Pride one of the largest Pride celebrations in the world.
