</p><p></p><p>London team Stonewall FC have successfully defended their title of Gay Games Champions after defeating New York Ramblers 2 - 1 at Gay Games 9 in Cleveland and Akron on Friday, 16 August. Stonewall FC have now won 4 consecutive Gay Games winning in Sydney (2002), Chicago (2006), Cologne (2010) and now Cleveland & Akron (2014). The Club has achieved unprecedented success and have confirmed their dominance of international gay football.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst the England national team were left disappointed at the World Cup in Brazil Stonewall FC proved that they deliver when it matters and brought home the gold for England.</p><p></p><p>Eric Armanazi, Stonewall FC manager commented 'It is a huge challenge to come to the US and beat very strong teams. We played 8 games in a week culminating in a tough final against a strong New York team. I’m immensely proud of the player’s achievement and the Clubs continued success’.</p><p></p><p> Doug Edward, Stonewall FC Captain Doug Edward went onto say ‘the players faced a really tough semi-final against Argentina but we dug deep as a team and we pulled through. The standard of US amateur football is really high and so we had to be on the top of our game to beat New York to secure our 4th successive title’.</p><p></p><p>Sponsored by Barclays London based Stonewall FC compete at a high level of amateur football playing in the FA Middlesex County League as part of the FA Non-League pyramid.</p><p></p><p></p><p>
