The Icon Empire Press-published American version of the popular The Gay Travel Guide For Tops and Bottoms is sure to set tongues wagging.
January 23, 2012 – (Vancouver, BC) – Those who don’t subscribe to the old adage, “it’s better to give than to receive,” are in luck – the United States is about to receive the Drew Blancs gay travel guide treatment. Actually, fans of both giving and receiving are in luck, as The Gay Travel Guide For Tops and Bottoms USA Edition (Icon Empire Press, ISBN 978-1-927124-08-6) makes sure that fans of both predilections are covered. The humorous, raunchy travel missive is set to enter online e-book stores and gay shops in the spring, leaving readers the whole winter to be eager with anticipation.
Recounting the on-the-road adventures of two gay travelers, one with a sexual preference for top men and the other preferring bottom men, The Gay Travel Guide For Tops and Bottoms USA Edition promises to enlighten, educate, and entertain. Its two intrepid wanderers trek through 15 different states in search of good food and good times, ranking hookups and answering the burning questions: which is the best Midwestern state to meet a power bottom and what state has the most tops?
The Gay Travel Guide US edition follows up on the success of The Gay Travel Guide For Tops and Bottoms (Icon Empire Press, ISBN 9780986929786 ). That book, which reviewed the gay scene in 13 countries from the point of view of the same two protagonists as in the US version, proved to be exceptionally popular, becoming the first gay themed travel book to reach the UK Top 10 in the Apple iTunes Travel & Leisure section. It also courted its fair share of headlines, when popular business networking website LinkedIn pulled online advertisements following concerns the company had about, “inappropriate content or language,” contained within the ad. The same ad ran on Google and Facebook without issue, but proved too much for LinkedIn.
“It had to do with a letter A,” says author Drew Blancs, “It was a very suggestive letter A, from my understanding. Ah well, controversy generates pretty good press.”
Though LinkedIn saw fit to give the book a scarlet letter A, its readership did not, and the book continued to sell both in print and online despite losing the advertisement. The Gay Guide’s popularity with readers helped pave the way for the sequel.
“I wrote this book literally due to popular demand,” says Blancs, “My publisher was bombarded by requests for a US version.”
The Gay Travel Guide For Tops and Bottoms USA Edition will be released to select bookstores by the 2nd quarter 2012, with special pre-release copies being given to several gay-themed websites. Like its predecessor, it will be available on e-book and can be purchased online at Apple iTunes, Amazon, Amazon UK, Indigo.ca and Chapters.ca. The Gay Travel Guide For Tops and Bottoms USA Edition is coming. You’ve been warned!
