“We are continuing the work of securing the necessary vote.”
(GayWebSource.com) – December 13, 2012 • Chicago, Illinois –The lead sponsors of the equal marriage legislation that is before the General Assembly may call the bill in January.
“We are continuing the work of securing the necessary votes,” stated Rick Garcia, Director of the Equal Marriage Illinois Project and Senior Policy Advisor of The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA), the leading and largest Illinois Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) civil rights advocacy organization. “We have been working tirelessly within communities throughout Illinois, and continue our aggressive campaign in securing the necessary votes to bring this bill up as soon as possible. When the 60 votes in the House and the 30 votes in the Senate are there, we will call the bill.”
