In Our Own Voices (IOOV) is a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people of color (LGBT POC) organization whose purpose is to “develop the leadership of LGBT POC; strengthen the voices of LGBT POC in order to effectively communicate our perspectives within the larger community; strengthen our capacity as LGBT POC to combat oppression and marginalization.” In Our Own Voices is a comprehensive LGBT POC organization in upstate New York and one of a handful in the United States.

LGBT Lead Advocate: The person in this role will work with other staff as we strive to build both a healthier LGBT POC community and stronger relationships among LGBT POC and non-LGBT people of color. Skills at community organizing and the ability to speak Spanish would be considered strong positives. Candidates also should possess strong organizational, written and oral skills.
The LGBT Lead Advocate will be the first point of contact for all IOOV clients. The Advocate will conduct all organizational intakes and will determine client eligibility for IOOV Programs and Services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in, Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, preferred LMSW,LCSW
- Paid Case Management experience
- Paid individual and group counseling
- Paid experience working on issues of domestic violence, sexual assault or related concerns preferred.
- Commitment to lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual people of color community issues and interests.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience in the social services and courts system field required
- Ability to think creatively and strategically about fulfilling program objectives
- Excellent time management skills

Job Summary: Responsible for handling front office reception and administration duties, including greeting guests , answering phones, handling organizational inquiries, and sorting and distributing mail. Collects and enters data into organization databases. Analyzes and maintains organization database in relation to all client information. Provides reports as requested.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Receives visitors and answers the telephone; screens calls and callers,
- Maintains schedules and calendars of In Our Own Voices events;
- Enters data into organization databases by inputting alpha-numeric information
- Maintains data entry requirements by following guidelines set by funders and organization staff
- Manages all calls received and directs callers to appropriate staff
- Management client engagement with IOOV’s food pantry
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
- Maintains customer client confidence and protects operations by keeping information
- Conducts data research as required
- Maintains client files to include a check in/check out systemMinimum requirements:
- High school diploma: Associates degree preferred
- Minimum of three years paid experience as an administrative assistant
- Bilingual (Spanish) plus
- Solid phone and computer skills with the ability to troubleshoot database issues
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent time- management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities; excellent organizational skills; attention to detail

LGBT Crime Victim Assistance Coordinator:

Job Summary:
Oversees the implementation of IOOV LGBT Crime Victim’s Program and provide case management service for all LGBT Crime victims in Albany, Montgomery and Schenectady counties.
Areas of Responsibility:
Program Coordinator will further implement the organization’s anti-violence program in fulfillment of a grant for that purpose from the New York state Crime Victim’s Services. Specifically, the person chosen will:
- Provide Criminal and advocacy, Emergency assistance, Home/Hospital/Off- Site Visits
- Staff In Our Own Voices’ LGBT domestic violence referral line.
- Attend court in Albany, Schenectady and Montgomery counties
- Recruit volunteers to provide direct services
- Open New cases
- Maintain written case notes
- Complete Monthly Objective Reports and Quarterly Reports
- Provide support and consultation to community-based advocates working in the courts
- Case conferencing for specific clients
- Act as an organization representative
- Perform other tasks as delegated by Executive Director
