Rescue Social Change Group – San Diego, CA

The LGBT Campaign Account Manager (Digital) will help plan and execute the campaign’s digital media and social media strategies to reach LGBT young adults through national campaign efforts as well as local campaign events in targeted markets. The right candidate will be passionate about creating positive social change in the world, will have experience communicating with clients, managing special events, developing marketing messages, using social media, and will have experience working with diverse groups and subpopulations within the LGBT community including campaigns to reach lesbian audiences, gay audiences, bisexual audiences, and/or transgender audiences.

Rescue SCG is currently in the planning and development phase of an innovative national campaign to prevent tobacco use among LGBT young adults. We are seeking to add a creative individual to this already fun and energetic team of social marketing professionals. This person will have the exciting opportunity to be part of a first-of-its-kind national campaign dedicated to reaching LGBT young adults. This role provides an opportunity to broaden your professional network both nationally and within targeted LGBT communities in major metropolitan areas across the US.

Rescue SCG is a for-profit behavior change marketing agency. Clients include local, state, and federal government organizations as well as not-for-profits, schools, and foundations mainly addressing tobacco use, with growing services in violence, binge drinking, and obesity prevention. Rescue SCG provides services in strategic planning, research, and marketing to execute behavior change programs nationwide. Rescue SCG efforts are primarily focused on youth and young adult populations to cause behavior change through education, policy change and/or culture change. Rescue SCG’s annual sales have grown over 100% in the past 3 years and are expected to more than quadruple in the next 2 years thanks to new, secured contracts. The Rescue SCG team is creative, and challenging industry standards to develop effective and sustainable solutions to public health issues.

Position Description:

The LGBT Campaign Account Manager (Digital) reports to the Account Director for the LGBT Campaign, and is responsible for the day-to-day management of deliverables and reporting to the client, and acts as a liaison between Rescue SCG and the client. They assist in project planning and editing, and collaborate with Rescue SCG team members on campaign-related strategies and tactics. The job of the LGBT Campaign Account Manager (Digital) entails activities pertaining to, but not limited to:

Project/Campaign Management:

  • Collaborate with Rescue SCG team members to create campaign-related collateral, such as commercials, graphic design, web design, and social media following set protocol;
  • Work with Account Director to develop digital and social media campaign strategies;
  • Manage development of localized digital and social media tactics including solicitation and management of local subcontractors and influencers;
  • Assist with the creative development process for new ads and campaigns;
  • Assist in development and execution of local events strategy for the campaign in various targeted metropolitan areas across the US;
  • Provide timely reports on campaign progress to Rescue SCG staff and client;
  • Manage ongoing deliverables on a weekly basis;
  • Review, revise, and edit various deliverables and reports due to the client;
  • Assist in outreach to various campaign-related subcontractors and consultants;

Client Management:

  • Communicate directly with client daily;
  • Address client concerns while ensuring that implemented strategies follow Rescue SCG’s internal research recommendations;
  • Assist client with small projects that may or may not relate directly to the main campaign;
  • Provide weekly reports on meetings with client;
  • Assist in maintaining and growing client relationships;
  • Assist in managing client expectations based on what they want in a specific deliverable and providing realistic timelines to complete any given deliverable;
  • Assist in relaying creative changes from client to Rescue SCG’s creative team;
  • Assist in managing spending forecast with client.

Internal Processes:

  • Take detailed notes at meetings to convert to minutes and internal reporting;
  • Organize and manage calendars that includes coordination of meetings and important due dates for deliverables.

Minimum Age:

Must be 21 y/o or older

Environment:

Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and computer and Internet access. Must be available to work non-traditional hours such as late nights and weekends. All business-related environments are tobacco-free.

Physical Requirements:

Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time and stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours at a time including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars.

Travel:

Variable travel frequency, as often as multiple times per month depending on campaign activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree +2 years relevant experience OR 7 years relevant experience OR Master’s Degree;
  • Experience working with digital, social media and/or web teams;
  • Experience working in/with LGBT populations via campaigns, brands or organizations with dedicated projects to reach LGBT audiences;
  • Strong verbal communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and communicate with clients on delicate matters;
  • Strong editing/writing skills for various client reports, marketing materials, etc.;
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to details;
  • Client management experience;
  • Experience in project management, account management, or program management;
  • Experience in a marketing and/or advertising company or department;
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment;
  • Proven comfort with numbers to perform basic financial tasks;
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and executing special events which use social/digital media as part of the pre and/or post event outreach;
  • Experience with public health efforts;
  • Experience working with project management tools (Teamwork, Basecamp, Zoho, etc.);
  • Strong travel planning experience;
  • Experience managing sub-contractors and third-party vendors to execute events and campaign activities;
  • Proven ability to quickly identify and solve problems;
  • Ability to operate independently and manage projects from inception to completion;
  • Exercise judgment and discretion in maintaining confidential and sensitive information;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Highly motivated, energetic self-starter who can remain focused;
  • Non-tobacco-use is highly preferred because we only have tobacco-free environments and also to be consistent with our tobacco prevention campaign goals.

Training:

A comprehensive training would be provided to the selected candidate. The training will be conducted at a Rescue SCG office and paid for by RSCG.

Salary/Status:

FT Exempt Position. Salary Based on Salary History, Experience and Education Level.
