LESGAICINEMAD: The Madrid Gay and Lesbian Film FestivalMadrid, Spain.

LesGaiCineMad,  is the festival theme LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) most important Spanish-speaking countries, both spectators, scope and number of films. LesGaiCineMad is one of the festivals with more public in the Community of Madrid and one of the most covered by the media in Spain after San Sebastián, Valladolid and Sitges.

LesGaiCineMad has a digital background of more than 3,000 independent films that make up the largest fund on affective diversity in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries. He founded and chairs the Network of CineLGBT the largest network of Spanish LGBT festivals involving more than 30 film festivals in Latin America and Spain. These festivals receive support and financial assistance through the network to run their own festivals in places like Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, etc.

Through his years of life it has become the natural reference point for Spanish and Latin American productions for the rest of the world. His work of discovery, subtitling and Hispanic premiere productions have made LesGaiCineMad is, in practice, a window on Spanish cinema LGTB for distributors, buyers, producers and international LGBT festival programmers.

Without forgetting that Spain has in its film history with productions that are milestones in film LGBT (eg. Pedro Almodóvar, Lucía Puenzo, Julian Hernandez) in recent years and in parallel to the growth of our festival, production and Hispanic market this subject has been professionalized further, generating new content that compete and win in the world’s biggest festivals including Cannes and Berlin.

At the same time it arises from throughout Latin America a new quarry filmmakers produce short films that travel the world collecting awards and international recognition while the tendency to generate new LGBT themed audiovisual content has grown exponentially in the TV show that there is a niche audience LGBT expected quality content.
