Washington, DC – September 18, 2011 marks the 4th annual observance of National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day (NHAAAD) a campaign lead by The AIDS Institute. This year’s theme is “Aging is a part of life; HIV doesn’t have to be.”To date, there are over twenty events occurring in 10 states across the country for individuals to participate on or around September 18th. A complete list of NHAAAD events can be found at 2011 NHAAAD Events. The following is a national webinar that The AIDS Institute is conducting for NHAAAD.
WHAT: NHAAAD National Webinar WHEN: September 19, 2011, 1:00 PM (EDT) WHY: The purpose of the webinar is to discuss the complexities and issues related to HIV/AIDS and older adults. First, The AIDS Institute will provide a brief overview of National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day and the ongoing educational campaign as well as emphasize the need for increased HIV awareness among the older adult population. Next, an overview of the data showing trends in the HIV aging population will be presented. Then, we will examine issues related to prevention and outreach as well as explore care and treatment challenges. Then, an example of a program from the field will be presented. Finally, participants will be provided updates around HIV testing coverage, specifically around Medicare. HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Please register via the following web link.
