<p></p><p>The story, which touched the hearts of millions of people around the world, has been made into a film, in which Shane Bitney Crone speaks about the cruelty he received from his late boyfriend's family and the system that failed to recognise Bitney-Crone as a significant partner in Tom Bridegroom's life. The film premiered on <a href="http://www.oprah.com/own/about-bridegroom-video">Oprah Winfrey's network OWN</a>.</p><p></p><p>On Sunday the 27th OWN, will present a night of specialised programming that will focus on being gay in the USA.</p><p></p><p>The film, which is due to receive a UK release via Netflix, has already won numerous awards and accolades. </p><p></p><p>The initial YouTube video was made to document Crone's grief on the anniversary of his partner's death.</p><p></p><p>Tom Bridegroom fell from a 4-storey rooftop to his death whilst taking photos of a friend in 2011.</p><p></p><p>Shane and Tom were in a committed, loving relationship for nearly six years.
