Provides subject matter expertise to teams charted to address and develop recommendations for current/future operations. Promotes internal and external communications. Manages the project team, timelines and budget.
Nursing Project Coord Transgender Services
- Provides leadership in redesign projects related to the coordination, delivery and management of heath care.
- Identifies methods and approaches to reduce cost structure and maintain high quality of patient care.
- Provides expertise on subject matter addressed by project team.
- Works w/ CSA and regional leadership and staff to implement programs.
- Recommends project strategy, identifies best methods and processes, and develops project planning, group process facilitation, training, and appropriate application of information technology.
- Collaborates w/ stakeholders and sponsors to define project charter, framework, vision, and deliverables.
- Ensures quality and effectiveness of research.
- Monitors and maintains timelines and budget.
- Contracts w/ and manages work of internal/external consultants.
- Coordinates all internal and external communication, represents the project to internal and external groups.
- Ensures the development of an effective implementation plan and facilitates the execution of this plan.

Other Duties:
- Collaborates with the Multi-discilinary team to plan, develop and implement the Transgender Surgery Program at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco.
- Develops, updates and implements clinical standards of patient care and policies and procedures for clinical operations.
- Collaborates with referring Physicians during patient screening process.
- Acts as the central point of contact for patients and families being screened for Transgender Surgery.
- Coordinates the comprehensive care of the Transgender Surgery patient.
- Organizes care conferences with multi-disciplinary staff during screening process and promotes team approach to patient care.
- Coordinates and participates in the screening of candidates for the program.
- Educates the patients and families about the procedure and provides on-going education to the staff.
- Ensures clinical practice and patient care are consistent with both TPMG and KFH policies and procedures.
- Develops a quality program focusing on patient outcomes, ensuring patient follow-up and maintaining data collection and entry.
- Coordinates all internal and external communication for the organization.
- Acts as a representative of the Transgender Surgery Program to both internal and external groups.
- Ensures development of an effective implementation plan and facilitates the plan with the physicians and staff.
- Collaborates closely with the Plastic Surgeons, Multidiscilnary Team which includes Gender Pathways, Psychiatry, Primary Care Providers, Social Services, and other members of the health care team in providing care for the Transgender patient.
- Maintains a flexible schedule to ensure patient and staff needs are addressed/documented in a timely manner.
Strong computer skills and familiarity with computer systems, electronic health care records and database management. - Will work closely with MST(Oakland), Gender Pathways(San Francisco) and referring physicians and clinics and clinics to manage econsults.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining protocols and policies for Transgender Surgery
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a management or leadership role and/or project management/operational planning.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- BSN or bachelor’s degree in a health related field required.
- License, Certification, Registration
- Current California RN license required.
Additional Requirements:
- Specific subject matter expertise in health care operations and care delivery.
- Ability to conceive, plan and manage team-based projects.
- Familiarity with health care industry strategic business issues, with an understanding of KP, its operations, social and legal environments.
- Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience w/ Kaiser Permanente preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in a manager/leadership role and/or project management experience.
- Significant experience (minimum 3 years) in Transgender Surgery Nursing
- Transgender Surgical post operative care
- Knowledge of Transgender hormone therapy and Mental Health assessments (experience with LGBT community preferred).
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate with physicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
- Three to five years Transgender, LGBT related Nursing experience.
- Plan, develop and implement the Transgender Surgery program at Kaiser San Francisco and Northern California Region.
- Central point of contact for patients and families who are being considered for transgender surgeries.
