(West Palm Beach, Florida) The Palm Beach County School Board voted unanimously this evening to create a District Diversity and Equity Committee to advise the School Board and Superintendent.
The advisory committee consists of 24 voting members nominated by various community organizations in Palm Beach County, including the Palm Beach County Human Rights Council and Compass Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Lake Worth and the Palm Beaches.
The Palm Beach County Human Rights Council has been the leading advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality in Palm Beach County since 1988.
“The School Board’s inclusion of the two leading organizations serving Palm Beach County’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is very significant,” said Human Rights Council President Rand Hoch, “Once again the School Board has confirmed its commitment to addressing the needs of LGBT students, parents, and District employees.”
