A passenger plane carrying 58 people has crashed in Taiwan leaving 12 dead and dozens trapped inside the riverbed embedded plane.
This pictures show the moment that a TransAsia ATR 72 turbo-prop passenger plane clipped a highway bridge and smashed into the river below. The plane came down shortly after take off on Wednesday afternoon in the Taiwanese capital Taipei. At least 12 are feared dead of the 58 people on-board. Dozens of passengers are believed to still be trapped in the wreckage that is embedded in the Keeling River below.
The chilling picture was taking from a car's dashcam. The video shows how the plane narrowly misses a car ahead before clipping its wing on the road surface and ploughing into the sidings.
TransAsia is an airline that focuses mainly on domestic market routes and was founded in 1951. This is not the first time that the company has suffered an accident with the French/Italian ATR type plane. It has had three previous accidents with the aircraft type, the first dating back to 1995.
Last year the airline suffered another ATR72 crash, which killed 47 people.
