Perlen – Queer Film Festival Hannover veranstaltet jährlich das Film Festival „Perlen“ im Kommunalen Kino Hannover, Sophienstraße 2, 30159 Hannover, durch. Daneben werden mit anderen sonstigen geeigneten Trägern begleitende Bildungsangebote wie z.B. Lesungen und Diskussionsveranstaltungen, in denen die Belange von Lesben, Schwulen, Bisexuellen und transidentisch empfindenden Personen im Film und anderen visuellen Medien historisch und gesellschaftlich differenziert aufgearbeitet und allgemein zugänglich dargestellt, angeboten und durchgeführt.

Autumn is coming. This means for Hannover theater enthusiasts: The beads are back! Already in the 19th edition of the Queer Film Festival Hannover shows a week, the most remarkable films of the year with LGBTI * -Thematik, specifically 17 feature films, 3 short film programs and 8 documentaries in 28 performances. The beads are traditionally opened with a festive champagne reception, this time on Sunday, 10.18. at 16.30 clock. We look forward to the greetings of the patron, Lord Mayor Stefan Schostok, and other guests. As charming and glamorous musical accompaniment themselves are the Duo Découverte (soprano and wings) with opera arias and songs that honor. The two artists make on Tuesday, 10/20 at 20.00 clock the concert “Glitter & amp; Be Gay “in the atrium of the Literature floor.

The beads are this year more international than ever. With films from Lithuania, India, Thailand, South Africa and Kenya countries are represented, which are not exactly known as a hotspot for queer cinema so far. We are particularly pleased that we have 2015 two outstanding films from Africa in the program that provide fascinating insight into the local societies and both appeal to both the female and the male audience. As a main feature of the opening night shows on Sunday, 10.18. at 20.00 clock, the South African drama While you were not looking. On Wednesday 21.10.followed at 18.00 clock this year’s highlight among the documentaries, the Teddy Award winners Stories of Our Lives from Kenya.

Politically committed it is on Friday, 10.23. at

16.00 clock with the highly acclaimed rousing documentary Out in the Night, which deals with racism, homophobia and misogyny in the American judiciary and the media landscape, and then with – shown in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation documentation Children 404 (Friday 23.10. at 20.00 clock in the Maestro Hall) on the disastrous situation of queer youth in Russia.

The movies offer a varied range spanning various genres such as coming-out film, Crime / Thriller, Comedy, Romance and Anarcho-musical. At a moving reunion with the deceased Hollywood star Robin Williams in his last role there is on Saturday 24.10. at 22.00 clock, in Boulevard, our closing film of this year’s festival, which tells of the late awakening of a bank employee.

This year welcomes the PEARL Film Festival to numerous performances again Director * inside and protagonist * in for interviews and public discussions. The foreign festival contributions are almost entirely provided with English subtitles.

At the end of the festival the wonders Pearl Party makes on Saturday, 10.24. from 23 clock in the Cumberland’s gallery for a relaxed atmosphere in an opulent setting.
