Post-Production Interns Wanted
Our current feature documentary in production is entitled The Night Minister and follows the life of nonconformist Methodist Minister Theodore McIlvenna, who was sent to San Francisco in 1962 to solve the church’s “gay problem.” His studies revealed an astonishing lack of research on the subject and revealed a brutalized community of sexual minorities. Through his tireless efforts, this unlikely champion for the city’s LGBT community changed laws, opened the first erotic art museum, and created a graduate school for human sexuality.Through his story, the film examines the untold role of religion and education in shaping the sexual revolution.
Internship Description: We are looking for someone that is self-motivated, open-minded, passionate about doc film, and familiar with all sides of production. Although no experience is required, candidates with experience shooting and editing are preferred. Hours are flexible, but a minimum of 2 days per week is required. You may also earn course credit.
Primary duties will include sorting through archival footage, transcribing interviews, and helping out on our exciting shoot days. All of our editing will be on AVID Media Composer so if you are interested in learning this software that the big companies like Pixar, Lucas and many others use, then you will get a big extra bonus out of this internship as we will train you.
Another important duty will be sorting through extensive archives (films, documents, and everything in between) at Dr. McIlvenna’s institute in San Francisco with an archivist. You must be flexible with working in Berkeley one day, and archiving in San Francisco the next. We will try to cover meals while archiving in SF when possible, though you must provide your own transportation (or use public transportation).
Lastly, there is huge potential to grow within our company and within the film world. We are located in Berkeley at the Saul Zaentz Media Center and are constantly working with many filmmakers in the bay area, so you will also be able to get your foot in the door of this community while gaining valuable hands on experience.
How to apply: Send us a brief cover letter and resume to NuRealityProductions@gmail.com
