ABOUT PRIDE VERMONT

The mission of Pride Vermont is to celebrate and support Vermont’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community of all ages, to educate and to act as a bridge to create alliances with each other and with the greater community as a whole. By sponsoring a yearly celebration including educational, social and artistic events, Pride Vermont raises awareness of the progress Vermont’s community has made toward equality and the challenges we still face.

INCLUSION STATEMENT

The goal of the Pride Vermont celebration is to empower all of Vermont’s LGBTQ community by creating spaces, both separate and together, where all people can feel safe, accepted, and surrounded by their community. Events that celebrate any specific LGBTQ sub group are presented with the principle of “targeted but open,” and create a specific space but are not exclusionary on the basis of sex, gender, or gender presentation. Participants are invited to lend their expression to events they feel celebrates their identity. Pride Vermont seeks to empower and celebrate all of the state’s LBGTQ community.
