PFund Foundation – Minneapolis, MN
PFund is seeking an experienced, organized, relationship-builder to become our Program Officer. This full-time permanent position is based in Minneapolis, Minn., reports to the Executive Director, and will be responsible for managing a team of volunteers as well as providing support to PFund’s Board of Directors.
PFund works with overlapping and intersectional audiences including foundation communities, LGBT communities and local and regional communities throughout our five state region. Racial justice, transgender justice and economic justice inform our framework. We recognize that as a social justice focused LGBT community foundation we have a unique and important role to play.
Program Officer PFund Foundation
Our programmatic work is driven by community engagement and involvement. The Program Officer will be responsible for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of approximately $300,000 in core grant making and scholarship programs as well as special initiatives and projects. Under the supervision of the executive director, the Program Officer develops, modifies and executes implementation plans focused on achieving funding, convening, advocacy and capacity building strategies.
PFund recognizes the need for an LGBT regional connector, and we have often stepped in to the role of convener, organizer and container for vital networking, community building and movement strategizing opportunities. In recent years PFund has led a Racial Equity Initiative, Aging Initiative and most recently spearheaded a project called QReach. QReach was designed to be an in-depth, two-way scan of resources and infrastructure for LGBT people throughout the region. The Program Officer will be responsible for ensuring that what we learn in the field is integrated into our organizational strategy. The ideal candidate will be creative, resourceful and have experience successfully managing complex projects with multiple teams that bring forth diverse perspectives and shared goals.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Manage the grants and scholarship processes each year, including:
- recruit, train and support volunteer community review committees
- invite proposals and support applicants to develop and finalize their applications
- conduct site visits and review narrative and financial reports
- make funding recommendations and declinations
- Create and manage programs work plan to ensure a smooth, rich and efficient process for all involved
- Ensure that our strategy and infrastructure align with best practices in the field of community foundations; keep us on the cutting edge; build relationships with peers that can inform our work
- Manage financial and budget reports to track grant and program spending
Coordinate
- Determine creative ways to expand and deepen the relationships between regional LGBT leaders
- Find and create opportunities to engage, support and amplify the voices and work of our partners
Support
- Strategic communications – help gather testimonials about the impact of PFund’s giving
- Fundraising efforts – support grant writing, special events and strategic storytelling
Special Projects
- Integrate the qualitative and quantitative data gleaned from QReach
- Contribute to strategy sessions about how to grow PFund’s endowment
Qualifications:
- Possess exceptional interpersonal skills, including relationship building and mediation
- Experience managing or participating in grants and/or scholarship review processes
- Experience building authentic relationships across lines of difference (race, class, age, gender, ability)
- Strong oral and written communicator, including facilitation and presentation skills
- Able to use systems and tools to efficiently manage high data volume
- Experience building and maintaining motivated and diverse groups of volunteer leaders
- LGBT culturally competent – experience and comfort talking openly about LGBT people and issues
Personal Qualities: These qualities will enhance the strength of an application
- A relationship-centered approach to community building, giving and philanthropy
- Likes flexible schedule – working closely with volunteers often requires evening and weekend work
- Self-motivated – has a deep desire to increase the strength of the LGBT movement in our region
- Strong sense of power dynamics around philanthropy including class, race, gender, age, position, etc.
- Detail-oriented – able to track and analyze data closely, finding mistakes and noticing trends
Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package, including PTO.
