Queer Women Who Tech Summit

Queer Women Who Tech Summit

The Lesbians Who Tech Summit is the only event focused on increasing visibility and tech participation in two historically underrepresented communities: women and LGBTQ. The Summit brings together hundreds of queer women in tech (and the people who love them), for the most unique technology conference ever. We’ll highlight incredible queer women who are the next generation of technical leaders, and the people who have paved the way.

You’ll hear from the amazing queer women who have paved the way, the women leading the way in tech today, and the incredible queer women who are the next generation of technical leaders. We’ll also have a Demo Session, in which you’ll hear the amazing tech innovations our members are working on, rated by our esteemed panel of judges.

At the Summit you’ll join hundreds of incredible women who have done — and are doing — amazing things in technology. Leaders, innovators, makers, do-ers, role models, trailblazers, creators and YOU!

We’re offering a limited number of deeply discounted scholarship tickets for people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford the Summit – students, bootstrappers, and early-stage startups (i.e. currently in an incubator or accelerator). Click here to apply.

Whether you have a techy job, work at a tech company, or just love technology, we want you to get geeky with other people like you!

The Summit is open to everyone. See you there!

Lesbians Who Tech is the community of queer women in and around tech, and the people who love them. Started in December 2012 by Leanne Pittsford, Lesbians Who Tech brings together queer women and allies in all areas of the tech industry, including people working at tech companies, those working technical jobs, and people who just love technology.

Both the technology industry and the most visible members of the LGBTQ community are overwhelmingly male. Lesbians Who Tech works at the intersection of these communities to spotlight women whose voices might otherwise go unnoticed. Lesbians Who Tech provides a place for queer women and their allies in the technology industry to connect and learn from each others’ experiences.

While the movement to incorporate and elevate more women in technology is strong and growing, queer women’s experiences in the technology industry continue to receive little notice. For example, studies have shown that women in Silicon Valley make 49 cents to the average male worker’s dollar.

But, no one has asked how this disparity might affect lesbian couples who face the same expenses and costs of living as their straight counterparts, but with only 2/3 of the household income. Lesbians Who Tech exists to ensure that these issues don’t get ignored, and that queer women feel empowered to raise tough conversations and be part of the solution.
