The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented person to serve as its Research & Evaluation Coordinator. The Research and Evaluation Coordinator (REC) will support the REDS department in data collection and management, data analysis, report preparation and research-related administrative tasks. The REC will work closely with the Project Elevate Program Manager and Advisory Board Associate to monitor and evaluate the identification of program priorities, the creation of program objectives, and the implementation of program activities.
As a part of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago’s efforts to continue to provide high quality services to vulnerable and underserved populations, AFC will lead a CDC funded initiative program designed to reduce sexually transmitted diseases in vulnerable populations. Project Elevate will use two expert advisory boards (youth and adult) to engage the community and reduce sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in young women of color (YWC) and young transgender women of color (YTWC).
Research & Evaluation Coordinator Project Elevate
Founded in 1985 by community activists and physicians, AFC is a local and national leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS. AFC collaborates with community organizations to develop and improve HIV/AIDS services; funds and coordinates prevention, care, and advocacy projects; and champions effective, compassionate HIV/AIDS policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist staff in the design, execution and evaluation of community based research and evaluation projects, including literature reviews, surveys, focus groups, data integration and analysis
- Assist with the development of data collection materials, site-visit protocols and procedural manuals as needed
- Manage data collection projects by meeting paper and electronic mailing deadlines, entering data, transcribing tapes and handwritten notes;
- Work closely with community-based organizations to monitor data collection and reporting
- Administer individual or group interviews, conduct observations and collect data from archival records
- Assist and provide data for dashboard, timelines and highlights for monthly program monitoring meetings
- Assist in the production of written, tabular and visual materials for research reports and presentations of systems-level monitoring and evaluation findings to multiple stakeholder audiences
- Assist with agency wide activities as directed including, but not limited to, the Annual Meeting, AIDS Run & Walk, World of Chocolate, and other AFC events.
- Assist with other AFC activities as requested;
- Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail, the ability to establish workload priorities and meet deadlines is critical. Ability to travel locally. Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations. Knowledge of SPSS is strongly preferred and experience working with Access database. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical specifications and project management documentation.
