The Hurriyet Daily News and Fox News is reporting that the State Duma lower house of parliament passed the bill in a 436 to 0 vote. Meaning that the anti-gay law was passed with no obstruction.
The vote means that the bill will pass, unobstructed to the upper house and eventually to President Putin to sign.
The law bans "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations" to children or those of minor age and includes Russians, foreigners as well as media establishments.
This is also thought to include gay prides, rallies and information sharing.
The bill still needs upper house approval, however there is doubt that any impediment will cause the bill before it arrives at President Putin’s desk.
Meanwhile a kissing protest turned to violence after around 200 anti-gay protesters hurled eggs and physically abused 20 gay-rights activists, Gay Community News is reporting.
There were approximately 200 anti-gay protesters who chanted ‘Russia is not Sodom” and recited Orthodox Christian prayers whilst crossing themselves repetitively
AllOut.org is currently hosting a petition to President Putin calling on him to end the anti-gay agenda in Russia
