Gaycation Magazine’s latest spotlight shines on MOON OVER MAINE in Ogunquit, ME. Ogunquit, meaning “beautiful place by the sea,” is a small town in York County, at the southern tip of Maine, with a population of just 1,500 people. Originally established by fisherman for its abundance of sea life, the village eventually became a popular art colony and tourist attraction. To accommodate the summer crowds, seaside hotels and inns were built, and Moon Over Maine was established.
Built in 1839, the cape-style house has seven rooms, named after the planets in our solar system (no Earth or Pluto). Rick and Mark, owners of the establishment, have created a celestial haven for your vacation. Each room is equipped with comfortable Queen or King size beds, flat screen TVs, and a private bathroom. Three rooms have a separate entrance, and the Venus room — the most romantic room of them all — includes a private balcony overlooking the luscious green backyard.
Greet every morning with a Continental Breakfast of baked scones and muffins, fresh fruit and an assortment of breads and cereals, along with your coffee and juice. Head to the hot tub in the backyard for a chance to unwind, or take the opportunity to use the tub to meet your neighbors of the B&B. Other accommodations include Wireless Internet, Room Refrigerators, Air Conditioning, and Free Parking.
When you’re ready to explore the city, visit one of the many white sandy beaches of Ogunquit (11 square miles is covered by water). Or, head downtown for some great shopping, then take Ogunquit’s Marginal Way, a one and a quarter mile long trail with views of the coast. The path will take you from downtown to the fishing village in Perkins Cove, which is now an outdoor mall of jewelry, clothing boutiques, and candle stores.
Ogunquit is ready for you to visit its city, and MOON OVER MAINE is the perfect place to stay. To make your reservation, call (207) 646-6666, or go to www.moonovermaine.com
