Three to five years editing experience, preferably with major online and/or print outlets; an insatiable appetite for, and knowledge of, pop culture, preferably that of LGBT interest; strong writing and editing skills; familiarity with content management systems and a variety of multimedia and web publication tools; a proven knack for implementation of best SEO practices.

The Senior Digital Editor will be responsible for delivering high caliber, day-to-day digital content for OUT.com, with a focus on pop culture and the news agenda. He or she will be responsible for developing an aggressive social media strategy, and helping to coordinate cross-platform editorial specials, e.g. the OUT 100, Hot List, Power 50, and Love issue portfolios. If filled in New York, the hire will be expected to work out of the Grand Editorial office at least three days a week.

Primary responsibilities:

• Improves and refines content output, focusing on traffic growth.
• In tandem with the Executive Editor, helps determine editorial strengths and weaknesses of OUT.com.
• Creates and updates a comprehensive 12-month editorial calendar for OUT.com
• Uses social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, etc.) strategically to drive traffic to OUT.com and promote the brand accordingly.
• Top edits online content as necessary. This includes creating heds and deks and other signposting that help users navigate the sites.
• With Executive Editor, coordinates OUT100 strategy, including roll out of Out100 content online, and live coverage of the event.
• Identifies and grooms new bloggers and contributors to the digital sites.

Other responsibilities:

Grand Editorial is a content agency, with several clients, and the Senior Digital Editor will be expected to help us meet strategic objectives with other brands when necessary.
