“BIGGER, HARDER, BETTER!” is the name of our second 2014 wall calendar born from the collaboration between our Art Director and Hungarian artist Tienne after their last trip to Russia.
2013 has been a disaster for LGBT people in many Orthodox countries but the most extreme of all was in Russia, where a recently passed law bans so-called gay propaganda in places where children could witness it
Behind all the cowardly politicians who treat LGBT people as scapegoats for their countries' economic and political malaise, there is a single, powerful force that is beating the drum of hatred: the Orthodox Church. Whether Russian, Romanian, Georgian, Ukrainian, Serbian or other, certain leaders of the various national Orthodox Churches are actively promoting physical and legislative attacks on the LGBT community.
OC’s team seeks to counteract these negative, radical influences on Orthodox Christianity with its wall calendars. Last year we supported Pussy Riot, the Russian girl band that dared to stand up for freedom of speech. This year we pay tribute to our LGBT brothers and sisters from Russia.
Starting today, anyone can help us supportt our LGBT brother and sisters by purchasing “BIGGER, HARDER, BETTER!” on-line from Amazon or directly from our store at www.orthodox-calendar.com/shop. The price per piece is only EUR 16.99! And for each calendar purchased, we will donate 10% to support LGBT causes in Russia.
The launch of the second edition of our Orthodox Calendar went viral on the net and reinforced our global effort against homophobia in the Orthodox Church. That is why our creative team has been very enthusiastic to work on this tribute, which reimagines iconic imagery ironically transposed into gay scenes.
