Their electric performance of ‘Seasons (Waiting on You)’ from their 2014 album Singles led the late night host to exclaim with unrestrained glee “I’ll take all of that you’ve got!”

That breakthrough performance on Letterman became an internet sensation and they recreated the performance on Later…with Jools Holland. The Baltimore based trio wowed audiences at last year’s SXSW Festival in Austin, TX before embarking on an ambitious touring schedule and ending up on several Best of 2014 lists.

The entrancing, hypnotic growl of lead singer Samuel T. Herring against the ethereal soulful beat is reminiscent of David Bowie. Herring’s stage presence is remarkable as well. He’s like a lion, majestic and regal but we know he could rip our faces off if he really wanted to; we simply can’t take our eyes off him.

Now they’re back with more and the follow up is incredible. Their new 7” single ‘The Chase’ is the finest example of shimmering synth-pop you’re likely to hear this year. The band was invited back to perform the thrilling new single during Letterman’s final run of shows before his retirement.

The B-side of ‘The Chase’, ‘Haunted by You’ is a beautifully contemplative song about lost love. It was first performed live in Sheffield in March during a break from recording sessions at Abbey Road.

You can see the trio live this summer at the BST Festival in Hyde Park on 18 June 2015, where they’ll open for The Strokes and Beck. Additional dates are scheduled for Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow in September.
