Doncaster Racecourse has announced this year’s Music Live events, which feature some of the best bands of the 80s. Following on from last year’s highly successful season, Doncaster Racecourse invites to you enjoy the excitement of an afternoon of flat-racing, followed by an opportunity to relive your wasted youth with a great line up of hugely successful bands performing their own open air concert as the sun goes down.
Whether you fancy a flutter or not, Doncaster Racecourse provides a friendly and enjoyable day out topped off by some of the best that the 80s had to offer. Kicking off the Music Live events are Sheffield band, The Human League, fronted by Phil Oakey. Their album, ‘Dare’ is considered one of the seminal albums of the 1980s, which produced the huge hit, ‘Don’t You Want Me?’, a song which is a true 80’s anthem. Having released nine studio albums over the years, they will be playing their hits on the 16th May 2015 including ‘Mirror Man’, ‘Love Action’, ‘Open Your Heart’ and ‘Fascination’.
Following on from the Human League are UB40 who will be performing on the 6th June 2015 on the venue’s Champagne Lawn. Formed in 1978, UB40 are one of the best-selling bands of all time, selling over 70 million albums and the band has released an incredible 50 singles over the years, including such classics as ‘Kingston Town’, ‘Red Red Wine’ and ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’.
On the 27th June 2015, reggae gives way to Ska, as the ultimate party band, Madness, take to the stage. Renowned for their live gigs, the nutty boys will once again be entertaining the crowds with their unique brand of style and their singalong classics. With a string of hits which need no introduction, Suggs and the boys will be performing favourites such as ‘Our House’, ‘Baggy Trousers’ and ‘It Must Be Love’.
Rounding off the Music Live events are New Romantic legends, Spandau Ballet on the 15th August 2015. With songs such as ‘True’, ‘To Cut A Long Story Short’ ‘Communication’ and ‘Gold’, Spandau Ballet quickly established themselves as one of the most successful bands of the 80s, releasing 6 albums and helping to shape the sound of the early 80s with their effortless cool and fresh sound.
