Your chance to take part in Eurovision 2014!

by Aaron Holloway | 6th March 2014

For the first time ever, Eurovision organisers are giving you the chance to take part in the opening number at the first semi-final on the 6th of May 2014.

To take part in the show, viewers are requested to sing along with last year’s winning song by Emmelie de Forest, Only Teardrops; or you can film yourself making your best dance moves and have a chance to be invited to be a part of the live show.

The organisers of this year’s show hope that by reaching out to the entire viewing audience it will help bring people together from across the world to create an exciting and lively Eurovision Song Contest. Head of Show for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, Jan Lagermand Lundme, said: "One of our main ambitions – and the central theme of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest – is to bring people closer together.”

To participate in the huge virtual choir, head to joinus.dk and sing a part of the winning song from 2013’s Eurovision Song Contest, Emmelie de Forest’s Only Teardrops. Recording your part and uploading it are all made very simple thanks to the easy navigation and usability of the website. While you’re there you can take a look at some of the other people from across Europe who have already submitted their own entries for the song. Judging by the entries that are already online, this section of the song is going to be much better than most of the UK’s recent entries.

The producers will then use these voices to create a virtual choir, which will be part of the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 6th.
