TasPride has been around for over 20 years now! We began back in the day when a small group of concerned people met in December 1992 in Hobart to discuss the possibility of establishing a Gay and Lesbian Community Centre, essentially to be a focus for support, resources and communication in the wider gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
Things have moved on dramatically since then, and the group that was originally incorporated as The GLC Centre Inc changed its name and focus in 2009 to TasPride. We’re still dedicated to celebrating, uniting and promoting the Tasmanian Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer community, through providing opportunities for everyone to come together and share our pride.
We produce the TasPride Festival each November, host events throughout the year and publish a regular newsletter. We also promote a wide range of activities produced all year around by the many GLBTIQ organisations in Tasmania.
Membership is open to all members of the GLBTIQ community and friends and supporters, both here in Tassie and across the country.
Members of TasPride receive regular information about Queer life in Tasmania through our email list, and can take advantage of members-only rates to special events.
We also have an active Facebook page, which we use to promote events in Tasmania and to keep you in the loop. You can also find us on Twitter. Check out the all photos from our events on Flickr or see what is happening on YouTube.
