We are seeking dynamic Master’s level clinicians to join our innovative and fast-paced multidisciplinary team as part of our newly expanded Behavioral Health services at Fenway and Fenway: South End. The full-time Staff Therapist provides direct clinical services to clients, including intake and evaluation services, short and long term individual therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy.

Additional responsibilities include: writing treatment plans; completing all required administrative tasks (such as documenting interactions with clients and preparing evaluation summaries); and collaborating with other staff by participating in clinical meetings and consultations.

Requirements:

  • Independent licensure is required (LICSW, LMHC, PsyD or Licensed PhD)
  • LICSW strongly preferred
  • Previous outpatient experience
  • Interest in or experience with LGBT issues, HIV, trauma, compulsive sexual behavior and couples therapy preferred
  • Experience with substance abuse, short-term interventions, group work, and mental health assessment and evaluation is highly desirable
  • Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment preferred
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required

Fenway Health’s Ansin Building home is located at 1340 Boylston Street in Boston’s West Fens neighborhood and is the largest facility ever constructed by an organization with a specific mission to serve the LGBT community.  Fenway: South End offers medical and behavioral health care and a full-service pharmacy at 142 Berkeley Street in the South End neighborhood of Boston.

In 2010, the Sidney Borum, Jr. Health Center became a part of Fenway Health.  The Borum is dedicated to providing the best quality health care for youth and young adults ages 12 to 29 who may not feel comfortable going anywhere else.  In 2011, we reopened our old 16 Haviland Street location as Fenway: Sixteen, offering HIV counseling & testing, health navigation and other services aimed at gay and bisexual men and transgender people.

Fenway Health announced a historic partnership with AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts in 2013 that will allow the two organizations to work more closely together and improve delivery of care and services to people living with HIV/AIDS.  The new partnership will also strengthen advocacy, prevention and research efforts at both organizations.

SERVICES

The services provided by Fenway Health include:

  • Primary health care
  • Specialty care (HIV/AIDS, obstetrics, gynecology, gerontology, podiatry and nutritional counseling)
  • Radiology services, including medical x-rays, mammograms and bone density scans
  • Behavioral health and addiction services
  • Family dental care
  • Family eye care
  • Full-service pharmacy
  • Complementary therapies (chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture)
  • HIV counseling & testing
  • Health promotion and community outreach
  • Violence prevention and recovery
  • Family and parenting services, including alternative insemination.

The Fenway Institute operates the nation’s first community-based HIV research program, which has been conducting long-term epidemiological research since 1985.  Fenway is one of eight sites in the US that was selected by the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases to recruit participants for the first clinical trials of an HIV vaccine.  In 2007, The Fenway Institute was awarded a federal population center grant from the National Institutes of Health, representing the first time a community-based organization has been selected for this type of work.  Working with the American College of Physicians, they also published the nation’s first medical textbook focused on LGBT people The Fenway Guide to LGBT Health. In 2013, the LGBT Aging Project became a program of The Fenway Institute.

Fenway Health is affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. All physicians hold faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School. Research affiliations include Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Brown University Medical School.  

This health center is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).
