The LGBT Aging Project, a program of the Fenway Institute, is dedicated to ensuring that LGBT older adults have equal access to life-prolonging benefits, protections, services and institutions.
Reporting to the Director of the LGBT Aging Project, the Training and Outreach Coordinator will have primary responsibility for community health education services, coordination of trainings and outreach programs for LGBT older adults and caregivers. Responsibilities include administrative management and general program support as well.
Training and Outreach Coordinator LGBT Aging Project
Primary responsibilities include: developing and overseeing community outreach and health education events for LGBT older adults, including planning the education and wellness series, developing workshops on a variety of themes, engaging speakers, and coordinating logistics for events; developing culturally relevant participant education and promotional materials; building relationships with collaborating organizations and internally among departments at Fenway Health; attending community events to represent LGBT Aging Project and distribute relevant information; maintaining accurate records to demonstrate the impact and reach of community outreach services ; and managing data collection and reporting required for funding sources.
Additional responsibilities include: developing new strategies to engage target populations, including LGBTs of color, transgender older adults; maintaining and updating resource materials; assisting with the marketing of programs and staff community visibility activities; and maintaining staff presentation and activity schedules.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years of related work experience
Master’s degree in a related field preferred
Project management experience (ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize assigned duties)
Experience in community organizing, social services, and health care preferred
Knowledge of LGBT community and an interest in LGBT Aging
Experience working with older adults of all backgrounds, particularly LGBT, elders of color, individuals with disabilities preferred
Self-motivated, organized and creative
Demonstrated ability to create and follow office and administrative systems
Ability to work independently and feel comfortable in ambiguous situations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent relationship-building skills
Word, Publisher, Excel, and social media skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other members of a team
Availability to a represent the Aging Project at program events on evenings/weekends as needed
Experience working in an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environment preferred
Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals
