Three Dollar Bill Cinema strengthens, connects, and reflects diverse communities through queer film and media.

What We Do

Three Dollar Bill Cinema provides access to films by, for, and about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and their families, and a forum for LGBT filmmakers to share and discuss their work with audiences. We curate themed screenings throughout the year and produce programs in partnership with other arts, cultural, and service delivery organizations in the Greater Seattle area.

Our Programs

The Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival

Our chief program is The Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival. The festival has been a part of the Greater Seattle LGBT community and beyond since 1996 and has become the largest festival of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. The festival has garnered national recognition for showcasing extraordinary and award-winning work. The festival is also an important venue in the local Seattle film scene, and inspires members of our community to express their creativity through film and video.

Translations: The Seattle Transgender Film Festival

Three Dollar Bill Cinema presents this groundbreaking film festival to provide the Pacific Northwest with a venue for films by, for, and about transgender people, encouraging visibility and positive representations of transgender issues. Launched in 2006, Translations is one of only a few transgender film festivals in the world.

<<Rewind

Hard-to-find movies, rarely screened film prints, and classics from the archives are showcased in our annual themed series of vintage queer films. Past series have included God Save The Queens, focusing on breakthrough films from the U.K., I Love The Nightlife, examining queer social spaces as depicted in the movies, and Scandalous, revealing censored gay themes and subtext in 1950s American filmmaking.

Three Dollar Bill Outdoor Cinema

With our campy outdoor film series at Cal Anderson Park and Pride Weekend screenings, Three Dollar Bill Cinema proudly presents fun and free movies under the stars, every summer. From foot-stomping favorites like Hairspray to thrills and chills with Creature From The Black Lagoon in 3-D, our silver screen selections make for hot summer nights that everyone can enjoy.

Cineoke!

It’s like Karaoke—only better. You’re the star of your favorite movie musical. Pick any scene to sing along to, while the film and lyrics are projected onto the screen. There are hundreds of songs to choose from. Cineoke happens every second Monday, at the Rendezvous’ Jewelbox Theater.

We also produce other events throughout the year. Check out our News page to see our most current events and programs.
