TRAVEL BULLETIN: Planned Works For Kent And Sussex 15/12 to 21/12

<p>The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 12 December but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.</p> <p></p><p>M20 junction 5 to 6, Maidstone, Kent: Drainage</p><p>The Londonbound feeder road will be closed – including the junction 6 entry slip road and junction 5 exit slip road – overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for four nights from Monday 15 December. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junction 4 for the exit slip road and via junction 7 for the entry slip road.</p><p></p><p>One lane will be closed and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on the Londonbound carriageway during these times.</p><p></p><p>M23 junction 9 to 8, Nutfield, West Sussex: Resurfacing</p><p>Lane closures will be in place on the Londonbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Monday 15 December.</p><p></p><p>Lane closureswill be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 5am, for four nights from Tuesday 16 December.</p><p></p><p>A20 Capel le Ferne, Dover, Kent: Bollard Installation</p><p>One lane and lay-by closures will be in place on the coastbound carriageway overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for two nights from Monday 15 December.</p><p></p><p>One lane and lay-by closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for two nights from Wednesday 17 December.</p><p></p><p>A20 Dover, Kent: Road marking reinstatement</p><p>The A20 will be closed in both directions – on the eastbound between Courtwood (B2011) and the Limekiln roundabout and westbound between the Limekiln and Western Heights roundabouts – overnight, between 8pm and 5am, on Thursday 18 December. The eastbound carriageway will be closed between the B2011 and the Limekiln roundabout. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the B2011 and the A256.</p><p></p><p>A21 Vinehall to Whatlington, East Sussex: Road surveys</p><p>Two way traffic lights will be in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for five nights from Monday 15 December.</p><p></p><p>A23 Handcross to Warninglid, West Sussex: Major improvement work</p><p>The Londonbound carriageway will continue to be closed between Warninglid and Handcross overnight, between 8pm and 6am, until Friday 19 December. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A272, A24 and the A264.</p><p></p><p>A23 Bolney, West Sussex: Resurfacing work</p><p>The southbound carriageway between Bolney and Hickstead will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5am, until Friday 19 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A272, A237 and the A2300.</p><p></p><p>A259 Bexhill, East Sussex: Drainage work</p><p>A lane closure and two way traffic lights will continue to be in place on Little Common Road. Work will be carried out between 9am and 4pm, and between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday only. Work is due to finish in January 2015, but will be lifted during the Christmas holidays.</p><p></p><p>A27 Kingston to Lews, East Sussex: Resurfacing work</p><p>The westbound carriageway will be closed between the Patcham interchange and Beddingham roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for five nights from Monday 15 December. A fully signed diversion will be in place via the A259, A26 and A23. Traffic for the University can access via the A270 or B2123.</p><p></p><p>A27 Manor Road, Worthing, West Sussex: Footpath construction</p><p>Westbound lane closures and a 40mph speed limit will continue to be in place between the DVSA lay by and the Sussex Pad junction overnight, between 7.30pm and 6am until Friday 19 December.</p><p></p><p>A27 Southwick Tunnel, West Sussex: Routine maintenance</p><p>The Southwick Tunnel will be closed in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am, for two nights from Friday 19 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A270 and A293.</p><p></p><p>Safety at roadworks</p><p>The Highways Agency is working with the industry and road users to reduce the risks of working on the roads.For the safety of road workers and all road users, when you are approaching roadworks:</p><p></p><p>Keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety.</p><p>Get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching.</p><p>Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks.</p><p>Be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks.</p><p>Keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front.</p><p>Observe all signs – they are there to help you.</p><p>General enquiries</p><p>Members of the public should contact the Highways Agency Information Line on 0300 123 5000.</p>
